KP Food Authority Seals Warehouse for Tampering with Expiry Dates in Peshawar 1,000kg of hazardous food items confiscated

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority (KPFS&HFA) has sealed a warehouse in Peshawar for illegally altering expiry dates of various food products, seizing around 1,000 kilograms of unsafe and expired items during a major enforcement operation.

According to the spokesperson of the Food Safety Authority, the operation was carried out near Ring Road, Kabutar Chowk under the supervision of Deputy Director Operations Peshawar Division, Zeeshan Mehsud. During inspection, it was revealed that the warehouse was allegedly involved in changing expiry dates of expired jelly, lollipops, biscuits, toffees, and chewing gums, posing a serious threat to public health.
The spokesperson added that during the raid, approximately 1,000 kilograms of expired and date-tampered food items were confiscated. Food inspection team also seized expiry date printing machines, hot air blowers, and packaging material used in the illegal activity.
The unit was immediately sealed for violating food safety laws and hygiene regulations, while further legal action has been initiated under the KP Food Safety Act.
Commenting on the operation, Director General KP Food Safety and Halal Food Authority, Kashif Iqbal Jilani, appreciated the performance of the food safety team and reiterated that strict action would be taken against elements endangering public health. He emphasized that indiscriminate operations against substandard, hazardous, and counterfeit food products would continue across the province to ensure the availability of safe and quality food to the public.
