Lahore, March 9: Punjab has finalized extensive security arrangements for Youm-e-Shahadat Hazrat Ali (RA), deploying more than 30,000 police officers and personnel across the province to ensure peaceful observance of the occasion.
Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari announced the measures during a press conference at DGPR alongside Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Salma Butt.
She said the security plan covers 217 mourning processions and 994 religious gatherings across Punjab, including over 8,000 police personnel deployed in Lahore alone.
Authorities will install 2,029 metal detectors and 297 walkthrough gates for security screening, while female police officers will conduct checking of women participants.
Plainclothes commandos and rooftop snipers will also be stationed along procession routes to strengthen security arrangements.
Azma Bokhari said Pakistan’s security forces are fully capable of responding to emerging threats and maintaining peace. She added that law enforcement agencies are working closely with government institutions to ensure the safety of citizens during religious events.
She emphasized that maintaining law and order and protecting citizens remains the government’s top priority.
