QUETTA: The Government of Balochistan has initiated revolutionary and modern reforms in the Finance Department.
As part of these reforms, initiated under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, separate specialist wing has been established, comprising experts to enhance financial analysis, research, and economic planning.
This dedicated wing will consist of financial experts who have been transparently selected from the private sector on a contractual basis. These professionals will provide their expertise in financial research, budget analysis, revenue assessment, and policy formulation to help achieve economic goals in Balochistan.
As part of the initiative, many vacant positions within the traditional structure of the Finance Department have been returned to the S&GAD (Services and General Administration Department). The Finance Department will now function with two distinct units: a Specialist and Technical Wing, and a separate Bureaucratic Wing.
According to the Secretary Finance, Imran Zarkoon, this is the first project of its kind in Pakistan aimed at improving public sector performance through a model inspired by private sector practices. He stated that financial policymaking and resource allocation will now be driven by modern analytical methods, which will lead to improvements in public service delivery and more effective development planning.
He added that this initiative is part of Chief Minister’s policy of implementing results-based reforms across departments to modernize the province’s financial system. This move is expected to mark a new chapter in Balochistan’s financial future and will serve as a milestone for transparent, effective, and sustainable governance.
