Pakistan–Afghanistan Dialogue Ends Without Breakthrough — Defence Minister Warns of ‘Firm Response’ to Cross-Border Attacks
Islamabad:
Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has confirmed that the recent round of talks with Afghanistan held in Istanbul concluded without any tangible progress. Speaking to reporters, he revealed that no date has been set for the next round of dialogue.
“The mediators have lost hope as well,” Asif remarked, adding that Islamabad expects Kabul to fulfil its counter-terrorism commitments. He cautioned that any cross-border aggression from Afghan soil will be met with an appropriate and decisive response.
Analysts believe the deadlock could exacerbate regional tensions unless both sides re-engage through back-channel diplomacy.
