Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has said that the development and prosperity of Pakistan are closely linked to democracy. Speaking at a furniture distribution ceremony for Theme Park flood victims at Governor House Lahore, he emphasized that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has never destabilized the system and remains committed to democratic values. He added that the coming era belongs to the PPP, with Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expected to become Prime Minister through the mandate of the people.
Addressing the ceremony, the Governor highlighted the suffering of Theme Park residents during recent floods, noting that their life savings and girls’ dowries were lost in the disaster. He praised the support provided by government institutions, welfare organizations, and philanthropists to assist the victims.
During media interactions, Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan reaffirmed that loyalty to the state is the responsibility of every citizen. He noted that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s recent three-day visit to Lahore energized PPP workers across the province. During the visit, Bilawal met with ticket holders, party office bearers, journalists, youth, and other stakeholders. The Governor said that large numbers of people from districts including Faisalabad and Sialkot have pledged to join the PPP, with public meetings planned in these cities soon.
On the occasion, the Governor distributed home furniture among 20 families of flood-affected residents under the auspices of the Implementation Minority Rights Forum, with the cooperation of Dr. Jeff, Chairman Samuel Piara, Archbishop Dr. Azad Marshall, and other officials.
