11 Dead, 1,261 Injured in 1,097 Road Traffic Crashes Across Punjab

Lahore, 22 December 2025: The Punjab Emergency Services Department (ESD) reported responding to 1,097 road traffic crashes (RTCs) across all 37 districts in the last 24 hours, resulting in 11 fatalities and 1,261 injuries. Among the injured, 551 sustained serious injuries and were shifted to hospitals, while 710 with minor injuries were treated on-site by Rescue Medical Teams, reducing the burden on hospitals.
Analysis revealed that motorbikes accounted for 76% of the crashes, highlighting the need for strict enforcement of traffic laws and lane discipline. Victims included 677 drivers, 35 underage drivers, 142 pedestrians, and 453 passengers. Lahore reported the highest number of RTCs (172 crashes, 210 victims), followed by Faisalabad (79 crashes, 85 victims) and Multan (72 crashes, 71 victims).
Among the victims, 998 were male and 274 female, with 213 under 18 years, 697 aged 18–40, and 362 above 40 years. Vehicle involvement included 1,031 motorbikes, 68 auto-rickshaws, 139 cars, 28 vans, 24 buses, 35 trucks, and 117 other vehicles.
The Emergency Services Department urged all road users to follow traffic regulations strictly, maintain lane discipline, and prioritize road safety to prevent further accidents.
