Jacobabad: A fresh series of violent incidents and robberies has reinforced public fears that Jacobabad is slipping deeper into lawlessness, with citizens blaming government negligence and alleged police corruption for the worsening security situation.
Within the last 24 hours, armed robbers looted a trader, Muhammad Bakhsh Rind, in the limits of Miranpur police station, snatching cash, a mobile phone and valuables near the Sam Branch area before escaping. Separately, a minor dispute over crop harvesting in village Luqman Brohi, within Mubarakpur police limits, turned deadly, leaving one man dead and another critically injured after a clash between two communities.
Meanwhile, police claimed multiple “successful operations,” including the arrest of a proclaimed offender in a murder case, recovery of a snatched loader rickshaw, stolen motorcycle, buffalo and cow, and seizure of an unlicensed pistol during snap checking. Recovered property was handed back to owners after legal formalities.
Despite these claims, traders, commuters and civil society groups say crime remains unchecked, warning that isolated recoveries cannot mask a broader collapse of law and order. Residents have urged the SSP Jacobabad and provincial authorities to move beyond statements and ensure sustained, corruption-free policing to restore peace.
