ZHOB, Feb 12: Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Thursday made it unequivocally clear that the provincial government will not take any step regarding the administrative standing of District Sherani without first consulting elected representatives and the local population.
Speaking to tribal elders and prominent figures during his visit to Zhob, the chief minister refuted circulating claims suggesting that Sherani district was being abolished. He termed such assertions unfounded and clarified that no conclusive decision has been reached by the government on the matter.
He emphasized that maintaining public confidence remains central to his administration’s approach. According to him, any proposal concerning a district’s status would only proceed after thorough engagement with local leadership and community members.
The chief minister explained that discussions had indeed been held at senior administrative levels, primarily focusing on the extended absence of certain officials in Sherani and issues related to the designation of administrative headquarters. However, he underscored that these internal deliberations should not be interpreted as a move to dissolve the district.
Addressing apprehensions surrounding the issue, Mir Sarfraz Bugti assured participants that any confusion or reservations would be addressed through open dialogue and collective understanding.
He further announced that a comprehensive consultative session would soon be organized, bringing together the local Member of the Provincial Assembly from Sherani, tribal elders, public representatives and district administration officials. The purpose of the meeting, he said, would be to evaluate administrative affairs in detail and enhance their efficiency.
The chief minister reiterated that the provincial government’s broader aim is to reinforce administrative mechanisms and improve service delivery across the province. He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to ensure stability, sound governance and equitable development in all districts of Balochistan.
Stressing that every region holds equal significance, he maintained that safeguarding public trust remains a foremost responsibility of the government.
