CM Bugti Hails Women’s Resilience as Cornerstone of Balochistan’s Future

Quetta, 08 March: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti lauded the courage, talent, and unwavering determination of the province’s women, describing their contributions as vital to Balochistan’s progress and future prosperity.
In a statement issued Saturday, the Chief Minister recognized the challenges faced by women and praised their dedication in balancing social, family, and professional responsibilities. He emphasized that women in Balochistan are not only fulfilling household duties but also making meaningful impacts in diverse sectors, strengthening the province’s development and stability.
Bugti highlighted the significant role of women serving in the police and armed forces, commending their professionalism and dedication, which have earned them nationwide respect. He also noted that women have been entrusted with key administrative roles, including positions as Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners, where their performance continues to set high standards.
To promote economic independence, the provincial government has launched the Women Economic Empowerment Endowment Fund, providing easy-installment loans to support women entrepreneurs. Additionally, the Khuzdar Women Market has been established to expand business opportunities for female business owners.
Education for women remains a top priority. Bugti revealed that nearly 16,000 female students received scholarships totaling Rs1.5 billion during 2024 and 2025. Furthermore, the government has committed to covering the complete 16-year education expenses for the top five female matriculation students from each district, enabling talented girls to pursue higher studies.
The Chief Minister also drew attention to initiatives enhancing women’s safety, including the People’s Pink Bus Service for secure transportation, Helpline 1089 for reporting harassment or violence, and facilities such as Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Women Centers and shelter homes providing protection, legal support, and accommodation.
Bugti celebrated a key legislative achievement banning the marriage of girls under 18, calling it a milestone for Balochistan and the country, ensuring better health, education, and dignity for young girls.
Addressing the women of Balochistan, the Chief Minister encouraged them to pursue their ambitions with confidence, assuring continued government support through programs like scholarships, Pink Bus Service, and Pink Scooties. He expressed hope that Balochistani girls would gain admission to leading global universities and build dignified, successful futures.
He further urged women to play an active role in raising children responsibly, guiding the younger generation away from negative influences and reintegrating those who may have strayed, to ensure they lead productive, respected lives.
Concluding his message, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti extended heartfelt congratulations to all women in the province, reiterating that their courage, skill, and determination form the foundation of Balochistan’s promising future.
