Balochistan Delegation Visits Sukkur Barrage to Secure Province’s Water Share

SUKKUR, July 18: A high-level Balochistan delegation, led by Provincial Minister for Irrigation Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani, paid an emergency visit to Sukkur Barrage to ensure the province receives its allocated share of irrigation water under IRSA regulations.

During the visit, Sindh Irrigation officials assured the delegation that Balochistan’s due water share would be released within the next 24 to 48 hours.

Speaking to the media, Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani said the province’s canals were facing an acute water shortage at a critical stage of the cropping season. He stressed that the Balochistan government was taking all necessary measures to secure the province’s rightful water share, adding that providing Balochistan with its allocated share under IRSA rules is a constitutional and legal obligation of the relevant authorities.
