ISLAMABAD (July 18): Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has reaffirmed that meaningful dialogue, democratic engagement and political consensus remain the key to achieving enduring peace and stability in Balochistan, stressing that the party remains committed to constructive negotiations with all political stakeholders.
The remarks were made during a meeting with Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti at Zardari House, where both leaders held detailed discussions on the province’s political, administrative and security landscape, including recent terrorist incidents and ongoing efforts to reinforce peace and stability.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Bugti briefed the PPP chairman on the provincial government’s response to the recent security challenges. He informed Bilawal that comprehensive steps had been taken to assist the families affected by the Ziarat tragedy and that a judicial commission had been established, at the request of the victims’ families, to conduct an independent and transparent investigation into the incident.
Bugti also shared plans for convening an all-parties conference (APC), which will bring together parliamentary as well as extra-parliamentary political forces to forge a unified stance against terrorism and develop a coordinated strategy for ensuring lasting peace in Balochistan.
Expressing solidarity with the families of security personnel who embraced martyrdom in recent terrorist attacks, Bilawal paid tribute to members of the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps and police for their sacrifices in safeguarding the country. He said the PPP stood firmly with the bereaved families during this difficult time.
The PPP chairman appreciated the provincial government’s efforts, led by Chief Minister Bugti, to address the concerns of the families affected by the Ziarat incident and welcomed the dialogue process that helped reduce tensions. He also acknowledged the constructive role played by opposition parties in facilitating a peaceful settlement through negotiations.
Reaffirming the PPP’s longstanding position on national security, Bilawal said the party had consistently maintained an uncompromising stance against terrorism. He pledged that the PPP would continue to support the people of Pakistan and state institutions in their efforts to eliminate terrorism while strengthening peace, democratic principles and national cohesion.
