BNP (Awami) chief and former senator Mir Israrullah Zehri has condemned recent parliamentary remarks linking an entire community with terrorism, terming them irresponsible and dangerous. Speaking in Quetta, Zehri said such statements fuel ethnic division in an already fragile social environment like Balochistan. He emphasized that Balochistan’s history is rooted in coexistence, where Baloch and Pashtun communities have lived together peacefully for centuries. Zehri stated that associating collective identities with violence undermines national harmony and distracts from real issues faced by the province. He highlighted unemployment, economic deprivation, unequal resource distribution, and law-and-order challenges as the core problems requiring urgent attention. According to him, inflammatory rhetoric in parliament weakens democratic norms and shifts focus away from public welfare. He urged political leaders to use parliamentary platforms for constructive dialogue and policy-oriented debate rather than statements that deepen mistrust. Zehri stressed that unity and constitutional justice remain the only sustainable path toward stability in Balochistan.
