Independent Report
Quetta:
The Home Department of Balochistan has announced an immediate and province-wide ban on the use, possession, and operation of drones, UAVs, quadcopters, camcopters, and other remote-controlled aerial devices.
The prohibition has been introduced in response to growing concerns over surveillance, espionage, transport of prohibited or explosive materials, and potential threats to public safety and security. Officials stated that the measure is intended to protect sensitive installations, public gatherings, key individuals, and convoys from potential harm or disruption.
Additional Chief Secretary (Home) has invoked powers under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code 1898 to enforce the restriction, which will remain in effect until further notice. Police and Frontier Corps personnel have been directed to ensure strict adherence, and violators will be subject to legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code and other relevant laws.
Deputy Commissioners across Balochistan have been tasked with submitting daily compliance reports to the Home Department. The notification also clarifies that law enforcement agencies, including the police and Frontier Corps, are exempt from the ban when operating in official capacities.
