PEC Afridi appointed as Returning Officer: ECP announces schedule of election for general seat of Senate from Balochistan

QUETTA: The Election Commission of Pakistan has announced the schedule of election for general seat of Senate from Balochistan province.
According to the notification issued here by ECP on Monday, the polling for general category seat of Senate is scheduled to be held on March 8, 2025 in the provincial assembly building.
The notification said that the ECP called upon the members of provincial assembly of Balochistan to elect a member for the senate from the province against the category of general seat, which had falled vacant, due to resignation tendered by Muhammad Qasim and fixes in relation thereto.
According to the schedule, the nomination papers can be filed by the candidates with the Returning Officer on February 18 and 19.
The date for public of names of the nominated candidate has been fixed as February 20, 2025. Last date for scrutiny of nomination papers is February 22 while the last date for filing of appeals against the acceptance or rejection of nominations has been fixed as February 25.
Last date for disposal of appeals by the Tribunal is February 27. The revised list of candidates contesting election would be published on February 28. While the last date for the withdrawal of candidature has been fixed as March 1, 2025.
