Sibi Mela recognition of Balochistan, source of economic and other activities, says Asim Kurd

QUETTA: The Provincial Minister for Revenue, Mir Asim Kurd has stated that the historic annual Sibi Mela is recognition of Balochistan, which we got in inheritance from our forefathers. The festival has always been the source of economic and other activities for the general public. This shows that how great our culture is.
He said that he is pleased that people of Balochistan have kept alive the heritage of thousands of years in form of the Sibi festival.
The Provincial Minister for Revenue was addressing the colourful concluding ceremony of the annual Sibi festival at the spacious ground of Sibi on Monday.
A large number of people belonging to different walks of life including tribal elders, elected representatives, government officials and general public participated in the closing ceremony of festival.
Prominent among those present in the ceremony were included Commissioner Sibi, Syed Zahid Shah, Director General Livestock, Dr. Shahzad Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner Sibi, Jahanzaib Sheikh, Chairman District Council Sibi, Sardarzada Mir Bijar Chakar Domki, Chairman Municipal Committee, Sardar Muhammad Khan Khajak, Sardarzada Mir Hairbiyar Domki and others.
Addressing the gathering, Mir Asim Kurd said that the traditions of tribes of Balochistan including bravery, hospitality and sanctity of the chadar and char deewari are famous all over the world.
He said that the Sibi festival not only provides recreation to the people but it also strengthens the economy.
In the end, the Minister Revenue thanked the organizers for holding the annual festival successfully.
He said that the culture of Balochistan and tradition of the festival has been kept alive due to the joint efforts made by all concerned.
He announced Rs. 2.5 million for organizers of the Sibi festival on behalf of the provincial government.
He also announces prizes for the students and band group presenting different items in the ceremony.
The Chairman District Council presented welcome address and announced Rs. 1 million for the livestock breeders participated in the festival.
