Quetta: Employees from various government departments participated in a large protest rally organized by the Balochistan Grand Alliance, highlighting demands including tax relief on salaries. The rally progressed through city streets to the Press Club, where participants carried placards and black flags to emphasize their concerns.
Alliance head Abdul Quddus Kakar criticized repeated failed negotiations, claiming government committees wasted time without delivering results. He accused authorities of breaking promises and failing to provide basic rights, while diverting funds for lavish expenditures. Kakar warned that if the 40-point demands are ignored, decisions will shift to street protests, adding that full-scale lockdowns of government offices across Balochistan are planned on December 30 and 31.
He stressed that while employees serve the state, they face hardships due to inequality, contrasting the treatment of government officials’ children receiving overseas medical care with ordinary citizens struggling locally. The Grand Alliance reiterated that their struggle will continue until demands are met, emphasizing transparency and accountability in governance.
