HYDERABAD, July 18: A garbage-clogged open sewer at Islamabad Chowk in Hyderabad has sparked concern among residents, who have urged municipal authorities to take immediate action to remove waste and restore proper drainage.

According to local reports, the open drain is heavily blocked with plastic bags, household waste and other discarded materials, posing potential public health, sanitation and environmental risks. Residents warned that the accumulation of solid waste could obstruct drainage, increase foul odours and heighten the risk of waterlogging during the monsoon season.

Citizens have called on the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and other relevant civic authorities to launch an immediate clean-up operation, improve waste management practices and ensure regular maintenance of the drainage system to prevent similar situations in the future.

The incident has highlighted the importance of effective solid waste management and timely civic services to safeguard public health, protect the urban environment and maintain safe sanitation standards in densely populated areas.
