Islamabad, February 12: Inspector General National Highways & Motorway Police (NHMP) Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry chaired the monthly Regional Conference to review nationwide performance, operational strategy, and road safety enforcement measures.
The conference was attended by Additional Inspectors General and Deputy Inspectors General from various zones across the country. A comprehensive review of zonal performance and key operational matters was conducted.
Addressing officers, the IG directed strict and non-discriminatory enforcement of traffic laws on national highways and motorways. He emphasized that timely assistance to commuters is a core responsibility of the department and instructed that emergency response mechanisms be further strengthened.
He ordered enhancement of Motorway Police Helpline 130 to ensure prompt public facilitation. Officers were directed to maintain courteous conduct and uphold professionalism to reinforce the institution’s positive image.
Stressing proactive patrolling, the IG called for intensified road safety briefings and awareness campaigns to reduce accidents and promote compliance with traffic laws as a collective responsibility.
He reiterated that protection of life and property remains NHMP’s foremost priority and urged strict adherence to the core values of courtesy, integrity, transparency, and professionalism. Senior officers were also directed to maintain close coordination with subordinate staff and resolve legitimate employee concerns on priority basis.
